Help & FAQ
Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Most issues are solved in under a minute here, no need to look for staff.
Getting connected
How do I buy internet access?
Pick a plan on the home page,
pay with card, bank transfer, or USSD, and your code appears instantly. If you bought
on the device you are holding, it connects by itself, nothing to type.
The WiFi login page never appears on my phone
Open your browser and type neverssl.com in the address bar. That
brings the login page up with your device recognised. This is the reliable rescue on
every phone and laptop.
I have a code but this device is not connected
Go to Use a code and enter it.
If the page says it cannot identify your connection, turn WiFi off and on again: the
login page recognises devices automatically. Still stuck? Open neverssl.com.
I paid by bank transfer and the page closed before my code appeared
No problem, your payment is not lost. The system confirms transfers by
itself within a few minutes. Reconnect to the WiFi and the login page will recognise your purchase,
or check My codes in the browser where you
bought it. If nothing appears after ten minutes, show staff your payment
reference.
Can I buy from home, before I get to the lodge?
Yes. Buy on this site from anywhere; the code is saved and shown under
My codes. It starts counting only when a device
first connects with it at the lodge.
Codes and balance
How do I check how much data or time I have left?
Open Check balance and enter
your code. It shows data used, data left, devices in use, and time remaining.
When does my plan start counting?
On first connect, not at purchase. An unused code keeps its full value
until the day you start it. After first use it stays valid for the period shown on the
plan (30 days for data bundles, shorter for daily plans).
Can I use one code on more than one device?
Yes, up to the device limit shown on each plan. Enter the same code on
the other device at Use a code. All devices
share the same data balance.
My code is on my other phone. How do I see it on this one?
Type the code once at Check
balance or Use a code on this device. From
then on it appears in this browser's My codes.
What do the labels on My codes mean?
In use on this device: this device is browsing with that code
now. Activated · allowance remaining: the code has started and still has data or time left; this does not confirm a device is online.
Unused: paid for, not started, keeps full value. Finished: data or time
is exhausted; buy a new plan.
Why is my data finishing so fast?
The usual culprit: automatic backups and updates
Phones treat WiFi as free and quietly upload photos and download
updates. On a paid bundle that can eat gigabytes in minutes. The three settings worth
checking:
- Photo backup: iPhone: Settings → Photos → iCloud, pause or set to cellular only. Android: Google Photos → profile picture → Photos settings → Backup, turn off or restrict.
- App updates: iPhone: Settings → App Store → turn off App Updates under Automatic Downloads. Android: Play Store → Settings → Network preferences → Auto-update apps → Don't auto-update.
- System updates: both platforms download system updates over WiFi by default; postpone them until you are on a connection you do not pay for by the gigabyte.
WhatsApp is downloading everything on its own
WhatsApp → Settings → Storage and data → Media auto-download: set
photos, audio, video, and documents to never or to cellular only. Group media
is the silent data eater.
Streaming quality settings
Video resolution is the biggest single factor. YouTube: tap the video →
quality → 480p is comfortable on a phone and uses a quarter of what 1080p uses.
Netflix and others have similar data saver options. Music apps: switch off high
quality streaming over WiFi.
Laptops: cloud sync and system updates
OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox sync everything the moment you
connect; pause syncing while on a paid bundle. Windows: Settings → Network &
internet → set the WiFi connection as metered, which holds back updates and
most background transfers. macOS: System Settings → App Store → disable automatic
downloads.
Is somebody else using my code?
Check balance shows how many
devices are on your code. If the count is higher than the devices you connected,
keep the code private; anyone who knows the digits can use a free device slot.
Connection problems
Connected to WiFi but nothing loads
In order of likelihood:
- Turn WiFi off and on again. Most cases end here.
- Open neverssl.com in the browser to force the login page up.
- If the equipment restarted recently, connections repair themselves within about three minutes; wait briefly and retry.
- Check your balance: a finished code looks exactly like a broken connection.
My iPhone keeps losing recognition (Private WiFi Address)
iPhones change their WiFi identity regularly for privacy. The portal
absorbs this automatically in most cases. If your iPhone repeatedly asks to log in
again: Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the ⓘ next to the network → set Private Wi-Fi Address
to Fixed for this network. Your plan is not affected either way.
Why is my speed capped?
Data bundles run at full speed. Unlimited plans carry a speed cap
(shown on the plan) so that one heavy user cannot slow the lodge down; that cap is
what makes an unlimited plan possible on a shared connection.
Payments
Which payment methods work?
Card, bank transfer, and USSD, all through Paystack. The processing
fee shown on each plan covers the payment charge.
I was debited but I did not get a code
The system re-checks recent payments automatically every few minutes,
so in almost every case the code appears in My
codes shortly after. If it has not after ten minutes, show staff the debit alert
or payment reference and they will resolve it.
